Research lines:

  1. Fisheries Science: Mathematical models of exploited marine resources, fisheries bioeconomics and fisheries history.

  2. Biology and ecology of decapod crustaceans.

  3. Analysis and modelling of marine communities.

Francesc Maynou is Tenured Researcher at the Marine Science Institute (Spain’s Research Council: CSIC, Barcelona) since July 2007.

He obtained a Ph.D. in Marine Science at the Polytechnical University of Catalonia on spatial statistics applied to crustacean decapod ecology. He works on quantitative analysis of marine fisheries in the Western Mediterranan, investigating the ecological and economic conditions in which fisheries take place.

He has produced more than 100 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and has overseen 6 Ph.D. thesis. He regularly participates in expert working groups of the Scientific, Technical and Economic Committee for Fisheries. He has participated in numerous European research projects related to marine fisheries science with a focus on bioeconomy.

He has collaborated in the development of the fisheries simulation model MEFISTO.

F. Maynou serves as coordinator of the H2020 RIA "MINOUW" (Mar. 2015- Feb. 2019).
